The Anointing Of The Shepherd

The oil protects and covers you from the schemes of the enemy

The Anointing Of The Shepherd

There is power in the oil of God! There is a scripture that has been going around and around in my head, and I didn’t realise the depth of the scripture until I came across a post on Instagram.

The scripture reads:
Psalms 23:5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.

When you read the beginning verse, it says the Lord is my shepherd. A sheep is an individual who tends to his herd of sheep, leading them in the direction of where they should walk. A person that the sheep can rely on to give them direction, feed them and look after them.

When David uses the scripture ‘You anoint my head with oil,’ he is using this as a symbol of what shepherds do to help the sheep from being tormented.

Doesn’t make much sense? Just hold on; let me explain further
 The reason why shepherds do this is to stop files laying eggs in the noses of the sheep. When the eggs are hatched, a larva (worm) will get into the head of the sheep, which in turn causes the sheep to lose its mind and start banging its head against a wall or a rock. In many cases, it causes the sheep to kill itself.

By placing the oil mixed with sulfur on the head of the sheep, it behaves like a repellent and stops the flies from laying eggs.

It was amazing when I found this out. The power of the oil stops the enemy from tormenting us with lies and helps us to stay in a place of peace and have a sound mind.

The Lord wants to anoint your head and heal your mind from the thoughts of affliction.

Understand that the enemy is after your mind; if he has that, all he has to do is plant seeds of doubt and negativity to the point that you will destroy yourself. This is why you have to constantly bleed the blood over your life and stay consistent in the word of God. Because if you don’t fill yourself with truth, the enemy will fill it with anxiety, fear, depression and more.

The scripture reads:
Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
(Whenever you see the word heart in scripture, he is referring to the mind!)

The word of God is our container that holds the oil, and we receive the oil through understanding the word. This is how we will receive our healing and give room for our wounds to heal.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (When you realise that you’re thoughts are getting out of hand, pray this scripture to take back authority over your mind).
